The answer is of course that
you don't. We are often bulldozed into buying things we
don't need but I'm assuming that if you've reached this page
you've at least got a passing interest in camcorders.
I have to say that when I
first started training I thought Jamie was a bit thick and I
could never understand why we went wrong so many times and why
he did the annoying things he kept doing such as knocking a pole
on a 180 degree turn. Then we bought a digital camera on
which we could record a small amount of video and I saw myself
running Jamie for the first time. It was a revelation.
All the things the trainer had told me and I hadn't quite
believed were there in glorious technicolour.
At last I could start to put my mistakes right.
Before long I found that the
camera wasn't enough for this use as it didn't have enough
recording time. We bought a better camera with a better
video option and we also bought a camcorder on which we could
record 90 minutes of video. This has proved invaluable when
training Sasha. I can set the camcorder up and switch it
on to record and I can record all the training I'm doing with
her at home. When I look back at the recording I can see
which bits are going right and which bits of training need more
work. I can see exactly what I'm doing wrong and I can ask
for advice on how to correct it if I still don't get anywhere.
For me, a camcorder has been an excellent training tool.
