Since we've been looking for a dog we've had a bit of trouble finding up
to date information on the rescue organisations in Cornwall. I've
decided to include it on Agility Bits. I have
made a start with the listings below but so far I haven't included the
breed rescues. I've found some contact details on the web but I
know that some of these are out of date so please bear with me while I
check them out.
Cider, Hazel and Jamie below were all
rescued by us and largely overcame their problems. We know that
Cider was kept in a yard and kicked and that Hazel and Jamie were
strays. We have had so much pleasure from our dogs but it hasn't
all been easy. If you think you might be able to rehome a dog in
Cornwall please check out the rescue organisations below.

RSPCA at St
Columb
In 1993 the four RSPCA
branches in Cornwall pooled their resources and became one registered
charity. They opened the William and Patricia Venton RSPCA Branch
Animal Centre at Higher Quoit in St Columb. This is now the focus
for the RSPCA work in Cornwall. The site has all the news and
events and also lots of information on how to adopt an animal from the
RSPCA. There are photos of the animals needing new homes and these
include dogs, cats and other animals such as pet rats and rabbits.

St
Francis Home For Animals at Newquay "We look after and re home
homeless and lost dogs of all ages and types. We lavish care and
attention on them all. We are proud of the fact that within a short
while the sad, lost and frightened dogs learn, often for the first time
in their lives, that there are gentle, kind and loving humans around
them in whom they can trust." This is where Jamie came from and
also our previous dog, Hazel. The site has photos of the dogs
available for rehoming and you can ring them for details if you see a
dog you like.
