My friends border collie ( Dot ) is 25 years of age in september, apart from failing sight and hearing she is in great health, is this a record? Admin reply: Hello Jean. That is a fantastic age for a border collie and she's in good health too. The oldest dog in the world is thought to have been Bluey, an Australian cattle dog who retired at 20 and lived until he was 29 years and 5 months. It is claimed that a dachshund called Wiley is the world's oldest dog at 31 years of age but his owners have so far failed to get him into the Guinness Book of Records. The oldest border collie was believed to be 27 year old Bramble. I'm afraid your friend's dog hasn't created a record yet but it's wonderful that she's in such good health. Long may she live.

hi people am david from liverpool and i was woundering does anyone 1 else have a patterjack Jackerdale cause av had mine for a year and ahalf now and i cant change him hes a very angry dog who doesnt lisen but i got him off a person when he as 4 months old he was kept with two other dogs bigger dogs when i seen him he was i could clearly tell he had to fight for his food and he had no fur on his belly chest could sum1 please tell me if this could be the reason for his angry behavior Admin reply: David, please seek help from an experienced behaviourist in your area. Your dog could be angry for all sorts of reasons. In general dogs need positive training and encouragement and some dogs will actually turn aggressive if you are too firm with them. Alternatively something could be frightening the dog and making him nervous and this can lead to aggression. Sometimes a dog has a pain somewhere that we aren't aware of and this can make him bad tempered. You need to seek advice from someone who can see you and your dog together and hopefully help you and your dog sort out your problems. Please do this before it's too late and you end up having to rehome him or he ends up biting someone. Good luck.

Hi I have just recently bought a stunning dalmatian puppy and I couldn't decide what to call her and this site has helped me name her. Her name is Lexi. Thankyou.

I have a beagle that is a real puller on a lead. Just came in exhausted and frustrated from the tug of war aka walk we have just had. Seriously considering buying a pre-walk treadmill for the beagle boy to tire him out since he walks so much better when tired! But instead, your idea of the long leash sounds worth trying...thanks for sharing.

Great website. I have already started the other half on making me some jumps for the garden. I have been doing agility for a year with my young Hungarian Vizsla and we hope to start some shows this year. I am an addict and love doing all the other training and tricks with my other two dogs although the elderly labrador gets a bit fed up with it all!!

What a brilliant site. I have just started agility with a very hyper over enthisiastic collie! Neither of us knows what we are doing but have picked up some great tips - and laughs - from here.

What a brilliant website. I love it. I have done agility with my labrador in the past - he couldn't get enough of it. We also tried Flyball, at which he was brilliant. Since moving to Scotland we haven't done any agility, but with your hints and tips I shall certainly sort out some of my own home-made jumps etc. Ted will go berserk!!
